Media statement - KwaDukuza mayor encourages senior citizens to motivate youth to register to vote

KwaDukuza mayor Lindile Nhaca has reminded elderly citizens to reflect on the past injustices of apartheid so that they can motivate their grandchildren and future generation to register to vote on the upcoming voter registration weekend.

“As we enjoy the fruits of democracy, let’s be reminded of the past injustices where most citizens were denied basic services. Our communities lacked essential amenities like running water and electricity. However, since the turn of 1994, we have witnessed significant development in previously neglected areas.

Today, our people have the opportunity to engage with the government and have their concerns heard. We trust that you will inspire your grandchildren and future generations to come in their numbers to register to vote on 18-19 November 2023 so that they can participate in the upcoming elections”, said Nhaca. She was speaking at the elderly citizens event in Thembeni.
