Top-tier service delivery in action as KwaDukuza Mayor launches the Nyathikazi and Mgigimbe housing projects

Members of media are cordially invited to witness a top-tier service delivery in action as KwaDukuza Mayor Cllr Lindile Nhaca launches the Nyathikazi and Mgigimbe housing projects this Sunday, 26 May 2024.

The two projects will not only change the face of our municipality but will help government restore the dignity of our communities and fulfill our promises to deliver decent housing, access to sanitation, ownership of property, security, and comfort.

These housing projects are set to uplift hundreds of KwaDukuza people from the yoke of poverty and homelessness, providing a roof above their heads; personal dignity; and a sense of belonging.

Speaking ahead of the launch, a visibly excited Cllr. Nhaca enthused as follows: 

“It is often said that home is not a place, but a feeling. As we continue to celebrate 30 years of democracy and freedom, our ANC-led Government has built more than 690 000 houses for our impoverished fellow compatriots in this Province alone. Through those houses, Government has brought much-needed hope and a feeling of pride and self-worth to all our fellow brothers and sisters. 

 “These projects that we will be launching on Sunday are therefore poised to have a similar effect on thousands. We are indeed fulfilling our Constitutional mandate that says, ‘Everyone has the right to have access to adequate housing.’ We are very excited to have reached this point, and look forward to beginning and completing construction within the shortest possible time, so that our beneficiaries can move in and begin reaping the fruits of their freedom.”

More details about these exciting projects - including the number of houses to be built, number of people to be employed, and how much these projects will cost - will be unveiled during the official launch, which will take place as follows:

KwaDukuza Mayor discusses investments and cooperation in bilateral with Gledhow Sugar Company

As KwaDukuza Mayor Siduduzo Gumede is engaging with investors and big business in a bid to strengthen corporation and to build stronger partnerships as part of his Mayoral Investor After-Care Initiative under his Turnaround  Service Delivery  Improvement Plan. His first engagement was convened at the Gledhow Sugar Company where he has opened a dialogue on matters of mutual interests, with a particular focus on economic development of the local municipality and its people. The mayor is using this opportunity to establish an ongoing conversation with the sugar mill company that has received an injection close to R1.8-billion under a new investor, Chatthe Group.
