Media statement - Message from KwaDukuza mayor Lindile Nhaca at the 70th anniversary of Umkhosi WeLembe
KwaDukuza mayor Lindile Nhaca will continue to support His Majesty, King Misuzulu KaZwelithini in all efforts to unite the people in the province and beyond.
"We take pride to have successfully hosted the the 70th anniversary of Umkhosi WeLembe where His Majesty, King Misuzulu KaZwelithini encouraged all Africans to unite despite their differences! We thank His Majesty in this effort.
The people of KwaZulu-Natal and from across many parts of the country were indeed united once again as a community in commemorating the enduring legacy of King Shaka kaSenzangakhona at the occasion of national Heritage Day.
His Majesty's inspiring message of unity for the African people reminded me of the vision that King Shaka held for his nation - it was to build a nation of military might, that would be united and prosperous.
We remain indebted to His Majesty on his commitment to unite the people of KwaZulu-Natal and not only this province - but the entire African continent. This was evidenced by his strong voice calling on all South Africans to embrace one another including our fellow men and women from the African diaspora. We welcome this message as it seeks to reinforce African unity.
A message well received by Amabutho who also celebrated through songs, slogans chants and hymns - displaying a sense of unity, and allegiance to our rich African heritage.
Significantly, KwaDukuza is the home of the King of the Zulu nation, it remains a prominent heritage asset to the entire African continent and this makes the historic 70th anniversary of Umkhosi weLembe the one to be remembered.
We will continue to support efforts by His Majesty to unite people from all walks of lives through Umkhosi weLembe - and we view this event as a fitting platform which allows citizens to celebrate and deepen their heritage in the wider context of a nation that belongs to its entire people", said Nhaca.
