Public statement: A resonance of warm wishes for new KwaDukuza office bearers


This morning, the mayor of KwaDukuza, Ali Muzi Ngidi chaired his first executive committee meeting where he was welcomed with congratulatory messages by his counterparts, including municipal officials following his election as the municipal mayor during a special council meeting that was held yesterday.

In his opening address, Ngidi remarked, “We have been given a responsibility to unite council. Regardless of what might have happened before, we need to steer this ship back to the seas. We need each other. We don’t come from the same families, but we know the task at hand - which is to change the lives of the people of KwaDukuza and to ensure that basic service delivery issues are championed on behalf of the people - so I plead with this seating.

 

Ngidi was elected alongside Njabulo Cele who is the new deputy mayor.

Media statement - KwaDukuza mayor supporting local investments and job security

KwaDukuza mayor Lindile Nhaca has extended her gratitude to the deputy minister for Employment and Labor, Jomo Sibiya on his commitment to use his department to support existing investments and enable the creation of new jobs. Mayor Nhaca was addressing a multi-stakeholder engagement at the Hesto Harnesses Toyota plant which is the municipality’s biggest employer with over 8500 workers. KwaDukuza mayor Lindile Nhaca this morning, 19 September 2024, addressed a multiparty oversight delegation composed of members of the KwaZulu-Natal Provincial Legislature as part of the annual National Council of Provinces (NCOP) oversight week. The two-day programme seeks to provide an opportunity for delegates to assess ongoing infrastructure development projects and offers a platform for engagement with local residents on challenges they are facing.
