KwaDukuza Mayor S’duduzo Gumede has committed to build stronger relations with communities and stakeholders in the face of challenges to leverage the delivery of services. He announced last night, 15 October 2025, during a town hall public engagement with ratepayers and residents of Wards 16, 17 and 19.

He declared the introduction of a turnaround service delivery improvement plan that will be underpinned by an inclusive multi-stakeholder engagement plan.

The programme will focus on empowering communities, fighting fraud and corruption, delivering basic services, putting people first, building internal capacity and refining municipal systems to work for communities while saving tax payers’ monies.

“We need to change the way we have been doing things, and do things differently. We should involve our communities in the affairs of our municipality. Our people do not feel involved in our processes, so we need to change the approach. We cannot plan if the people are not participating fully. It is very clear, we must come up with a plan of improving service delivery throughout KwaDukuza. So, we must develop a service delivery improvement plan with inputs from communities", said Gumede.

He was addressing scores at the Town Hall last night as part of the review process of the Integrated Development Plan and budget for Ward 16, 17 and 19.
