Media Advisory: Multi-stakeholder clean-up programme launch

KwaDukuza mayor S'duduzo Gumede will be launching a multi-stakeholder clean-up programme in Ward 19, targeting the CBD on Tuesday, 28 October 2025, as part of his 100 days in office initiative.

The mayor intends to mobilize for the participation of stakeholders in building a new culture of civic responsibility where residents and commuters are encouraged to maintain their immediate environment while government delivers services to communities.

This landmark event reflects the mayor’s commitment to a people-centered back-to-basics approach to accelerate service delivery, promote civil responsibility and deepen partnerships. The campaign also promote good governance through active involvement of communities in the transformation of local government and delivery.

The multi-stakeholder clean-up programme will also feature a focused delivery approach in fixing streetlights, verge maintenance, stormwater maintenance, waste removal, tree felling, law enforcement, pothole patching and waste removal awareness programme.

The municipality is working with various stakeholders including the Department of Transport, EDTEA, Department of Forestry, Fisheries and the Environment (DFFE), Department of Health and the private sector.
