KwaDukuza Mayor intensifies fight against lawlessness including the fight against fraud and corruption



KwaDukuza Mayor Siduduzo Gumede is using the Service Delivery Turnaround Improvement Plan to deal with criminal elements involving illicit trade, violations to municipal bylaws, tackling illegal immigration, fighting fraud and corruption.

“Working with various role-players, the municipality is actively involved in activities to deal with lawlessness, fraud and corruption through ongoing enforcement operations and through investigations within the municipality. The implementation of the Service Delivery Turnaround Improvement Plan is surely accelerating our responses to the long held concerns by the public and indeed a lot of effort is being put in coordinating efforts to deal with maladministration and criminality”.

Mayor Gumede was responding to service delivery issues at the IDP and Budget Imbizo held in Sakhamkhaya in Ward 01 and in Ward 25 at the weekend where he pointed out that there are concurrent independent investigations being undertaken by the Special Investigation Unit, Hawks as well as Cooperative Governance and Traditional Affairs.

KwaDukuza Mayor discusses investments and cooperation in bilateral with Gledhow Sugar Company

As KwaDukuza Mayor Siduduzo Gumede is engaging with investors and big business in a bid to strengthen corporation and to build stronger partnerships as part of his Mayoral Investor After-Care Initiative under his Turnaround  Service Delivery  Improvement Plan. His first engagement was convened at the Gledhow Sugar Company where he has opened a dialogue on matters of mutual interests, with a particular focus on economic development of the local municipality and its people. The mayor is using this opportunity to establish an ongoing conversation with the sugar mill company that has received an injection close to R1.8-billion under a new investor, Chatthe Group.
